Terms of Service

Effective May 29, 2026

Note: These are baseline terms maintained by Briefli. They are being finalized with outside legal counsel and may be revised. Material changes will be communicated to account holders by email.

1. Who we are

Briefli (“Briefli”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Timberline Coffee School Ltd. These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of the Briefli website and application at briefli.io (the “Service”).

2. Acceptance

By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

3. What the Service does

Briefli interviews you about an idea and assembles a structured prompt designed for use in third-party AI coding tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT). Briefli is a prompt-structuring tool. It does not provide legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice, and prompts it generates are not guaranteed to produce any particular outcome in any AI tool.

4. Your account

You must provide accurate information when creating an account, keep your credentials confidential, and not share your account. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to use Briefli.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Generate content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes the rights of others.
  • Send personal data of third parties whose data you have no right to share.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer the Service, bypass rate limits, or otherwise abuse it.
  • Resell, sublicense, or use the Service to build a competing product.
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service except through a responsibly disclosed security report.

6. Your content and our content

Your inputs and outputs. You retain ownership of the interview content you provide and of the prompts the Service generates for you. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any content you enter.

Our license to operate. You grant Briefli a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, and display your content solely as needed to deliver and improve the Service for you. We do not use your interview content or generated prompts to train AI models.

Briefli’s materials. The Briefli platform, website, branding, and underlying software remain the property of Timberline Coffee School Ltd.

7. Subscriptions and payments

Free-tier users can run a limited number of interviews per month. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance through Stripe at the price displayed on the Pricing page. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you retain access until then. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed. We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice; changes apply at the start of your next billing period.

8. Third-party AI tools

Briefli generates prompts intended to be used in third-party AI tools that are not operated by Briefli. The output of those tools, and any decisions or code you derive from them, is your responsibility. Briefli is not liable for the behaviour, accuracy, or availability of third-party AI tools.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that generated prompts will produce any particular result in any AI tool.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Briefli’s aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid Briefli in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater. Briefli is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits or lost data. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example, certain consumer protections in your jurisdiction).

11. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from your dashboard. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or fail to pay for a paid subscription. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will continue to apply.

12. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms. If we make material changes we will notify account holders by email and post the updated Terms with a new effective date at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the courts of Calgary, Alberta, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction provides otherwise.
